A Yemeni government source said that the “Riyadh agreement” between the government and the southern transitional council is likely to be signed on Thursday.
The agreement affirmed the commitment of both sides to activate all state institutions, and reorganize the armed forces under the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, and its security counterpart under the leadership of the Ministry of Interior.
The agreement addresses a crisis that began with the control of the “security belt” of the Transitional Council in August, on most of the joints of the state in the province of Aden (south),
Since 2015, the coalition has been conducting military operations in Yemen in support of government forces in the face of Iranian-backed Houthis controlling northern provinces, including the capital Sanaa, since 2014.
A government source revealed the most important items in the draft agreement, which is expected to be signed on Thursday evening in the Saudi capital, including:Commitment to the full citizenship rights of all the Yemeni people, and renounce sectarian and regional discrimination and division.
Stop all offensive media campaigns between the parties
Unite efforts under the leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, to end the Iranian-backed Houthi coup, and to confront the organizations of “Al Qaeda” .
Form a committee under the supervision of the Arab Alliance, led by Saudi Arabia, to follow up and implement the provisions of the agreement and its annexes.The right of the Southern Transitional Council to participate in the government delegation for consultations on the final political solution.Upon signing the agreement, Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi directs all state agencies to implement the agreement.
