The Houthi coup militia continues its violations and looting of Yemen’s wealth to achieve its own goals. The Yemeni Coalition for Monitoring Human Rights Violations revealed that the Houthi militia specifically recruited more than 18,000 underage children in a number of Yemeni governorates.
Many media quoted the symposium organized by the Monitoring Alliance in partnership with the Federation of Communities in Europe, which was held in Geneva, Switzerland. A number of participants in the seminar revealed that the Houthis initiate the recruitment of children to participate in the battles, and are taken from schools and educational and religious centers to achieve this goal.
The Houthi militias rely on tribal sheikhs to recruit children into fronts, in exchange for material or in-kind benefits or political positions. The newspaper pointed out that the recruitment of children is one of the most important reasons for the high death toll among children, where the coalition estimated the number of children killed since the outbreak of the war sparked by the Houthi militia by about 6000.
