ERC Starts Distributing School Uniforms to 100000 Students in Five Yemeni Governorates
On 11th November, the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) started to distribute school uniforms to 100,000 students living in the emancipated Yemeni governorates of Aden, Abyan, Dhala, Lahej and Taiz.
The disposition of the uniforms forms a part of the endeavor of the “People’s School” in Al Buraiqeh District in the temporary capital, Aden, to impose the new of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC. His Highness requested the ERC to offer school uniforms to Yemeni students in the country, and emphasize the UAE’s attempts to support the local education sector.
The distribution of the school uniforms was attended by Ahmed Salmeen, Governor of Aden; Dr. Abdullah Salem Lamlas, Yemeni Minister of Education; and Tayeb Al Shamsi, ERC Representative. Apart from these people, many officials from the Yemeni Ministry of Education were present during the ceremony.
Dr. Lamlas stated that the commencement of this drive was in answer to the decision to halt the need to wear school uniforms, till the living conditions of Yemeni denizens have improved. He further added that more than 100,000 Yemeni students from the five freed governorates will profit from this drive, which also includes 20,000 students from eight districts of Aden.
Tayeb stated that the ERC in assistance with the Ministry of Education of Yemen started distributing the uniforms and their main aim was to reach the children of poor families, the wounded, and the martyrs in order to develop the apt environment for children so that they can finish their educations, regardless of their difficult conditions.
Tayed further added that backing Yemen’s education sector is one of the top concerns of ERC, with the aim of enhancing the lives of Yemenis and allowing them to deal with their present conditions. It can be done by supporting the education system, offering school supplies to students, augmenting the school environment, and developing an environment to gain academic success.
