Houthi Shelling Targets Yemen Displacement Camp

October 19, 2018

Houthi rebels targeted a displacement camp located in Khokhah, a district in the south of Hodeidah. It resulted in the death of a woman and 12 people getting injured. The shelling was made from a close range, in order to assert that the attack was carried out intentionally from one of the Houthi hideouts in the mountainous chains which encircle Hays.

The camp which housed dislodged people, mainly families, left the camp for another camp set up in the east of the city. According to security sources, the Houthi rebels broke into the area and started to fire suddenly. The rebels fired more than five rounds inside the camp when the displaced people were living inside the tents.

Members from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, who is an humanitarian organization, in charge of the camp are looking into the matter along with the Yemen authorities. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman stated that he expects the Iran-backed militias get ready for a deal.
