Houthis of Yemen Arrest Protestors in Sanaa

The Houthi group of Yemen had arrested a number of people in Sanaa on Saturday over falling living standards, as price of the basic commodities are out of the reach of several people amongst the humanitarian crisis and the war with the neighboring countries. The Houthis who are aligned to Iran took control of Sanaa’s capital in the year 2014, ousting the internationally popular government of Abd-Rabby Mansour Hadi. A Saudi-led U.S. backed international military coalition which intervened in the year 2015 for restoring it.

Sanaa residents have stated that they had been arrested on Saturday that includes 16 female students. These students had been released at the end of the day after they had signed the pledge of not taking part in the demonstrations any more, one of them had said, asking not to be identified because of their fear of retribution. She also said that the female Houthi supporters by the armed men.  She said that they beat her until she fell to the ground and received electric shock in the back when she stood up again. She wasn’t able to move when they took her to the police station.

The Houthi-controlled Saba news agency that described the demonstrators as the mercenaries that stirs up public anger. The security services at the capital detained several mercenaries tasked by the aggressors for planting rumors and disturbing the public peace.  Each side of Yemen conflict had been accused to human rights violations.

There are some staple good which have become pretty expensive for the Yemenis and the central bank had to struggle to pay the salaries to the public sector on which many people have to depend as the foreign exchange reserve dwindles.

Bahrain, the part of the Saudi-led coalition have mentioned that Houthis put up a camp for the displaced people close to the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah this Friday killing a woman and also injuring many civilians as per the statement of foreign ministry  in Manama.
