Qatari Currency Smuggling To Houthis Prevented

A large sum of Qatari currency was seized by security forces before it could be smuggled into Yemen. The money was seized in warehouses belonging to the Houthi rebels.

This marks the second occasion of currency smuggling by the Houthi rebels being foiled. Last year, the Houthis were caught when they tried to smuggle currency amounting to over 2 million dollars. This was prevented just before the smuggled amount could reach Sanaa which is the capital of Yemen. In that occasion, the currency was hidden inside a bag of clothes which was present inside a car.
