The Houthis imposed restrictions on the distribution of humanitarian aid
A UN Security Council session on the situation in Yemen began yesterday,Thursday October 17 2019.
At the opening of the session, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen, Mark Lokoc, said: “We thank UAE and Saudi Arabia for the support of the United Nations to address the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
Lokoc said that fuel prices in Yemen have tripled in recent months and noted that the Houthis imposed more than 100 restrictions on the distribution of humanitarian aid.
He continued: I call on the Houthis to stop practices that lead to higher prices of consumer goodsamd making life impossible for thousands of Yemenis families .
On the events of the south, he stressed that the clashes in the south of Yemen is detrimental to the political and humanitarian operations.
