The Sixth Joint Meeting of the Redeployment Coordination Committee is held in Hodeidah Port
Members of the Yemen Redeployment Coordination Committee held their sixth joint meeting from 8 to 9 September aboard the UN Open Water Ship off Hodeidah Port.
The Redeployment Coordination Committee activated the truce mechanism and reinforced the ceasefire agreed upon at the previous meeting of the Committee during the month of July.
Accordingly, the Joint Operations Center was established and operated at the Mission headquarters in Hodeidah, which includes liaison and coordination officers from both parties, as well as liaison and coordination officers from the United Nations Mission.
According to a press release issued by the Committee, the Joint Operations Center will work to reduce escalation and address incidents in the field through direct contact with field liaison officers deployed on the fronts of Hodeidah governorate.
Committee members decided to deploy observation teams at four sites on the front lines of Hodeidah as a first step to stabilize the ceasefire.
The members of the Committee also addressed the technical and practical aspects of the UN Special Envoy’s proposal to Yemen on the implementation of the Hodeidah Agreement and its phases, and will present their proposals thereon later.
The Hodeida agreement was reached as part of the Stockholm agreement in December 2018 between the legitimate Yemeni government and the Houthi militia.
