The UAE supports 26,000 fishermen in the western coast of Yemen
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) continues to support fishermen in the western coast of Yemen by supporting 26,000 fishermen in the western coast of Yemen.
On Thursday, the UAE Red Crescent Society distributed a new batch offishing tools and supplies to 200 fishermen in the Yakhtal district of the Al Maha Directorate in the western coast of Yemen.
The representative of the UAE Red Crescent in the West Coast said that the tools distributed to the fishermen in Yakhtal are part of the initiatives, assistance and
actions carried out by the UAE in various villages, areas and liberated districts of the western coast in the Year of Tolerance 2019.
He explained that this comes in order to complete the normalization of life and improve the level of services provided to the brothers in yemen.
Mohammed Zaid, Director of the Fishermen’s Foundation in Yakhtal, said that the UAE Red Crescent carried out several projects directly supporting the fishermen. The most important of these is the rehabilitation and restoration of the fishing center in Yakhtal.
A number of fishermen expressed their gratitude and thanks to the UAE for their continuous support to them and to the people of the West Coast.
During the year 2018 and 2019, the UAE rehabilitated and established 24 fish landing centers from the Bab al-
Mandab flies Directorate to the Hawk Directorate in Hodeidah. In addition, fishing equipment was provided to 1,000 fishermen to develop the fisheries sector.
