UAE aid to Yemen: AED 20.57 billion
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued a report on the total assistance provided by the UAE to the Yemeni people between April 2015 and June 2019. The total assistance amounts to 20.57 billion dirhams (US $ 5.59 billion). Two-thirds of the aid was allocated to development projects. 17.2 million Yemenis in 12 governorates benefited from the UAE aid.
According to the report, a total of 53% of the UAE’s aid to Yemen goes to general support programs and is worth AED 10,800,000 (US $ 2.95 billion).
Among all the beneficiaries, 11.2 million were children and 3.3 million were women. As part of this aid, 11.4 million Yemenis received medical treatment, as well as medical supplies, rehabilitation of hospitals. 16.3 million food aid
and 1.8 million children received educational support. Three airports and 3 seaports were rehabilitated and operated in Aden, Mukalla, and Socotra.
The UAE has contributed to the provision of assistance through the guidance of the UAE Red Crescent, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Foundation, the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable, and Humanitarian
Foundation, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable, and Humanitarian Foundation, Saqaya UAE, Al Rahma Charity and the House of Sharjah Charity.
In accordance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Yemen is receiving
constant aid like emergency support programs, food drugs water air and sea bridge to relief the war-affected areas because of the Houthi militia.
