UAE Health launches cholera campaign in Taiz, Yemen

The Red Crescent provided medical assistance distributed to the health centers in the Directorate of Al-Wazea’iya in order to control and eradicate the cholera epidemic. The six days of the campaign will include clearing a number of water wells and filling the marshes to get rid of the bacteria carrying the disease. The causes of the disease and its symptoms and the sources of infection and methods of prevention through the distribution of awareness leaflets, along with medicines and tools for the purification of water.
The representative of the UAE Red Crescent in the western the coast of Yemen said that the intervention to treat cholera patients, through the sending of medical teams, and the provision of medicines for health centers and units are really urgent,
The Director-General of Al-Waza’ia Directorate, Ahmed Abdo Al-Dharafi, stressed that the emergency intervention by the UAE Red Crescent to combat the disease, through sending teams and medical aids, as well as awareness
leaflets, brought back a smile to the faces of the Yemeni families, who were in a state of panic and fear because of this epidemic, The lives of a large number of children, women will be saved with this operation.
He pointed to several development projects that bear the UAE footprint in the Directorate of Al-Wazea’iyah, including the Central Water Project, which serves all villages and districts of the Directorate and benefits more than 50
thousand people as well as health and educational projects.
The Director of the Office of Health and Population, Dr. Rabash Ahmed Saleh, said that the UAE Red Crescent has assigned a medical team to carry out treatment procedures for cases of cholera and to provide medicines and medical supplies for health facilities in various areas of the Directorate as part of its comprehensive plan to eradicate the epidemic.
A number of Yemeni citizens praised the support provided by the UAE in all areas of health, education, relief, and other service and development fields that contributed to the normalization of life and the return of stability to all areas of liberated Yemen.
