UAE medical assistance to fight epidemics in western Yemen
The UAE, through its humanitarian arm, the Red Crescent Authority, continueS its support to the health sector in the west coast of Yemen as part of the emergency response program to respond to the epidemicS by providing hospitals and health units with the necessary medical supplies.
The UAE Red Crescent provided the health sector in Al-Tahita Directorate in Hodeidah with new quantities of medicines.
Hassan Ahmed Hanbeeq, Director General of Tahita, praised the UAE’s significant role in supporting the health sector and various service sectors in the Directorate.
The representative of the UAE Red Crescent Authority in the West Coast, said that the drugs are dedicated to the treatment and control of acute diarrhea prevalent in remote coastal towns southwest of Al-Tahta Directorate, this comes within the framework of intensive support by the UAE to cope with epidemics that have increased cases, especially among children with the season Rainfall.
This is the third medical aid provided by the UAE Red Crescent Authority for the health sector in the West Coast in less than a week.They included the Mukha district of Taiz governorate and the districts of Hays and Al-Tahita in Hodeidah governorate, as well as running two mobile clinics with their supplies to the towns of Al-Ghuwairq, Al-Saqif and Al-Thukair south of Hodeidah.
Dr. Ali Al-Ahdal, Director of the Health and Population Bureau in Hodeidah Governorate, said that the UAE has contributed significantly and clearly in fighting epidemics and improving and revitalizing health services in the liberated districts and was one of the first humanitarian bodies supporting Yemenis and supplying the health sector in the liberated towns with medicines and medical staff.
