March 26, 2019

As per the voice of Virginia Gamba, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, the Houthi militia has taken no preventive means and are continuing to abuse and violate rights of Yemeni Children.

In the press conference that was held in Riyadh, Virginia bought to notice how the Houthis continually are violating the rights of children and not taking any preventive steps to contain the horrors of war. She further mentioned, unlike the Houthis, the Arab coalition has, however, taken measures to ensure the safety and protection of children in Yemen.

As per the further notice, the Arab coalition had signed a memorandum along with the UN to ensure proper protection is awarded to the war inflicted children. This memorandum was signed in between Virginia Gamba and the head commander of the joint forces of the Arab coalition, Maj. Gen. Fahd bin Turki bin Abdulaziz.

This memorandum cites the theories of “noble humanitarian aspects”. Both the UN and the Arab coalition pledged to adhere to the policies of the agreement signed and uphold the rights of child protection in Yemen.

Nevertheless, despite the memorandum signed, Ambassador Abdallah Al-Mouallim Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations cited that the international organization took no measures to properly educate the war-stricken children. On top of that, the Houthis are not making things easier with their atrocious ways.

Despite all the controversies, as per Virginia Gamba’s statement, the UN aid agency in Yemen named King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center will consistently work to uphold the life of children in Yemen. Currently, steps are being implemented to educate and displace the war-stricken children to safety. Additionally, the UN will continue providing whatever humanitarian needs required improving the lives of these children.
