UN Envoy says that troop redeployment in Hodeida is slow but will certainly occur
The United Nations envoy to Yemen has recently stated that the redeployment of the troops of the rival factions in Hodeida is taking place at a slow rate. Nonetheless, it is certain to happen.
Martin Griffiths, the UN envoy, had made these comments
Back in December 2019, the Yemen government managed to sign a deal with the Houthi extremists in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. While this certainly led to hostilities being reduced in Yemen, the deal has now stalled.
Hodeida is a major port in Yemen and crucial to maintaining humanitarian aid supplies. However, it was captured by the Houthis early in the war. According to the UN envoy, the ceasefire in Hodeida is still holding despite the tensions.
