Yemeni Minister of Information Muammar al-Iryani on Saturday condemned the Houthi coup’s attack on the representative of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Yemen, Al-Obaid Ahmed Al-Obaid.
Al-Iryani, in a series of tweets published on Twitter on Tuesday, strongly condemned the Iranian-backed Houthi militia expel ofthenthe international official in charge of the human rights in Yemen, and to withdraw his travel permit and force his plane to take off minutes after landing at Sanaa International Airport
He also stated that the attack came against the backdrop of a report that highlighted militia abuses, including sexual violence against women in Houthi detention centers.
He called on the Yemeni Minister of Information, the United Nations and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to announce the facts to the world and international public opinion about this insidious act, and not to cover up the crimes of the Houthi militia and not to bow to its repressive practices, even against officials of the United Nations and international human rights organizations.
UN officials revealed that after the arrival of the UNHCR representative, Al-Obaid Ahmed Al-Obaid, in Sanaa on Monday, security officers from the Houthi militia boarded the plane, took his passport , and ordered the pilot to leave.
